WHO WE ARE

The core of this work is formed by a group of awakened teachers who have all personally benefited from this path and are now dedicated to bringing this benefit to others.  Although united by a common understanding and love of the core principles of waking, down, and mutuality, each teacher embodies and expresses these values in their own unique way.  This is not a cookie-cutter path where everyone is quoting from one textbook!  Instead, Waking Down in Mutuality is a continually evolving, living dharma that honors each person’s integrity and autonomy in Being.  We invite people who are considering this path to find a teacher whose approach, values, and style of communication best resonate for them.

There is a nonprofit democratic organization of teachers—the Waking Down Teachers Association (WDTA)—that supports this work, sponsors this website, upholds professional and ethical standards for teachers, and brings the teachers together in peer mutuality groups to support their ongoing growth and unfoldment.  Only teachers in good standing appear on the teacher page of this site.

In addition, there is a school—the Institute of Awakened Mutuality (IAM)—that offers week-long retreats and other courses of interest to people at all stages of awakening, including advanced work for prospective teachers.  Students with an interest in becoming teachers begin by offering their services as volunteer mentors who provide support to students who are newer in this path.  This is a real gift to our entire community that we are very pleased to be able to offer.  You can learn more about IAM events at their website www.awakenedmutuality.org (note that following this link will take you out of this website).
